College of Engineering (COE)
Engineering Computer Center (ECC)

Welcome: ECC Users ...

This is the website for the URI College of Engineering Computer Center. Think of it as the online presence for a place that many URI engineering students call home.

The ECC features over 100 workstations, scanning, printing and plotting services, cable and wireless Internet access for personal laptop computers, three classrooms and a conference room.

The ECC also provides centralized services, with linux servers, for @egr.uri.edu email accounts, college web sites and online file storage for engineering students.  Please refer to the left menu for more information on any of these topics.

The following link is to a general introduction to the ECC, as presented in the Fall 2012 EGR105 seminar (pdf).

Password Checking

Once a year, the ECC runs a password checking program designed to guess insecure passwords. You will be notified by email if your password is guessed and given time to correct it yourself. Any accounts which still have an insecure password, after the grace period, will be disabled. You will need to see the Student Operator in Kirk 203 to re-enable your account, all files and email messages will remain intact.

The ECC will NEVER ask for your username and password via email.
Do not ever email us that information !!!
Or respond to email requests for it !!!

Don't take memory sticks left in PCs !!!!!

One day that memory stick will be yours. Please turn them in to the student operators at the desk. They will look for a name on the stick to email the owner for pick up.

Discovery Center: now open!

The Discovery Center is a high-end computer classroom. It has seating for 30 students with dual monitor PCs; an instructor podium with tablet monitors and the ability to interact with any of the student PCs; eight wide screen flat panel TV monitors, two projectors, and a laser printer. The room is a renovation of rooms 203C & E, combining them into one large space. The Perdikakis conference room, Kirk 203D, remains intact with a small study room connecting it to the main part of the Computer Center.
